understanding the 3 different types of GIA diamond reports
When considering to purchase a D-to-Z scale diamond, ask for a GIA grading report! This will give you important information about the diamond's individual characteristics. These characteristics are like thumbprints - they can be used to identify your unique diamond.
The most thorough report issued by GIA is the Diamond Grading Report it includes
an assessment of a diamond’s 4Cs – color, clarity, cut, and carat weight – and a plotted diagram of its clarity characteristics and a graphic representation of the diamond’s proportions.

The
GIA Diamond Dossier also offers an
an assessment of a diamond’s 4Cs – color, clarity, cut, and carat weight and a graphic representation of the diamond’s proportions. It does not include a plotted diagram of clarity characteristics. As an added security feature, the report number is
microscopic laser inscribed on the diamond’s girdle.

The GIA Diamond Origin Report provides the same assessment as the Diamond Grading Report plus GIA’s scientific determination of the diamond’s country of origin. Additionally,
the report number is also microscopic laser inscribed on the diamond’s girdle.
